Heirs Insurance Group has opened entries for the fourth edition of its annual Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, inviting junior secondary school students from across Nigeria to participate.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, this year’s competition offers prizes totaling N10.5 million. The top prize includes a N5 million scholarship for the winning student and a N1 million educational grant for their school. The first runner-up will receive a N2 million scholarship, while the second runner-up will be awarded N1 million.

Participants are required to submit an original essay of no more than 500 words on the topic “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure” through the Heirs Insurance website. The submission window runs from May 27 to July 8, 2025. To further embed insurance awareness, the application process also includes themed quizzes related to insurance, encouraging students to engage with the subject from an early age.

In a notable expansion of the programme, the 2025 edition introduces a new category: the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize, which aims to recognize educators who actively promote insurance literacy within their schools and communities.

The Heirs Insurance Essay Championship is a core part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, designed to enhance educational outcomes and foster greater awareness of insurance among young Nigerians. Winners will be revealed at a Grand Finale event scheduled for August 2025.
