HUNTER FOUND DEAD UNDER UNCLEAR CIRCUMSTANCES IN ADAMAWA
A hunter has been discovered dead in Adamawa State under circumstances yet to be fully explained.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Ardo, hailed from Kuma village in Suktu District of Song Local Government Area, where the incident occurred.
A community source, Atenka John, alleged that Ardo, who was among the hunters helping to maintain security in the area, was taken away by men in uniform on the night of last Saturday. His body was later found in the bush the following day with his throat slit.
John urged heads of security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army and Police, to thoroughly investigate the matter, stressing that the incident has unsettled the community.
In response, the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Divisional Police Officer in Song to ensure that those behind the killing are apprehended and prosecuted.
He also appealed to residents to remain calm, assuring them that justice will be served.
