Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one-half of the defunct P-Square duo, has sparked reactions online after announcing that he is changing his birthday date.

In a post shared on Monday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the singer simply wrote: “I am officially changing my birthday date.”

He did not, however, give any explanation for the decision.

Peter Okoye rose to fame as part of the award-winning music duo P-Square alongside his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy). The group dominated African pop music in the 2000s and early 2010s with multiple hit songs before their eventual split.

The duo first broke up publicly around 2015 following disagreements over management, royalties, and family involvement in their music business, particularly issues linked to their elder brother, Jude Okoye.

By 2017, the group officially separated, with both brothers launching solo careers.

In November 2021, the twins reunited, delighting fans with performances and new collaborations, although reports later suggested that underlying disagreements over financial and business structures resurfaced.

Peter’s latest post has now triggered fresh speculation among fans, many of whom are questioning whether it is symbolic, personal, or simply a light-hearted statement.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
