Calling out estate executives for acting like emperors, Yoruba actress Wumi Toriola criticized their oppressive behavior, stressing that power without empathy amounts to tyranny and residents are not mere subjects.

Expressing her frustration, she said, “You see these so-called Estate Executives. They oppress and intimidate even more than politicians. I’m packing to go back to my other house in Eliot. Estate Executives are not emperors. Power without empathy is oppression, and residents are not subjects. I am oppressed, intimidated, and I am tired. My neighbours in Eliot, please let me see you in the comments section. Wahala yi ti poju.”

Last year, Toriola had addressed the idea that celebrities shouldn’t respond to bullies, emphasizing that fame does not erase human feelings. She explained that silence often represents a wounded person trying to stay composed.

The actress has previously spoken out against production managers in the Yoruba movie industry, citing their lack of consideration for cast and crew. She shared a difficult experience on a movie set and offered advice to her colleagues.

Additionally, Toriola criticized producers over the violent roles she has been assigned, highlighting how such roles could impact her personal life, including her search for love.

In an Instagram post, she also spoke on the dangers of godfatherism in the entertainment industry, explaining how powerful patrons can block opportunities for others, create obstacles for well-meaning helpers, and even foster resentment within the industry.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
