Afrobeats star Omah Lay has shared his thoughts on relationship dynamics within the Nigerian music industry, describing it as a space driven by strong egos.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Nando Leaks podcast, the singer revealed that his “weird” personality and lack of need for external validation have led him to keep a small circle of friends.

According to him, he only maintains close relationships with people who genuinely understand him and align with his journey.

Omah Lay explained that while he tends to be reserved, he also acknowledges having a strong ego, which makes forming friendships more difficult.

“I have a very weird personality. I believe I am just that guy, so I don’t have a lot of friends. I don’t talk to many people—just a few who try to understand my world and where I’m headed,” he said.

He added, “The Nigerian music scene is full of egos. I’m a calm person, but I also have a big ego, and that makes it hard to build friendships.”

The singer further noted that he consciously tries to stay humble at times, as he believes an inflated ego can slow down personal and professional growth.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
