Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has revealed one of the most shocking challenges she faced early in her acting career.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the movie star said that when she was just starting out in Nollywood, she was given an outrageous script that required her to sleep with a dog as part of a movie scene.

She explained that despite being a newcomer eager for roles, she rejected the script because of the negative impact it could have had on her image and long-term career.

According to her:

“Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog. I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that. Imagine my first ever movie, I am sleeping with a dog. It doesn’t make sense.

It is going to be a tag because whatever you start with is what people will associate you with. I didn’t want to be known as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies.”

Nkechi added that after she turned down the script, several other young actresses rushed to take it, but she noted that none of them are “in the limelight today.”

She said she eventually met veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru shortly after leaving the production venue, and he expressed interest in working with her. This led to her debut appearance in “Through The Fire,” a film produced by Emem Isong.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
