I WILL NAME POLITICIANS BEHIND OYO STUDENTS’ ABDUCTION — SUNDAY IGBOHO

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to expose politicians allegedly behind the abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Igboho made the remarks while addressing newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a trending video shared by Wisdom TV, the activist claimed he had volunteered to help flush out bandits responsible for the kidnappings but was prevented from doing so by the Oyo State Government.

He also stated that he never requested financial support from the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to rescue the abducted pupils.

“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so they can be dislodged. I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all.

“I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” Igboho said.

He further alleged that some political actors were deliberately trying to destabilise the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President,” he said.

Referring to the abduction of pupils in Oyo State, Igboho claimed he offered to intervene directly but was discouraged by the state government.

“Suppose the recent abduction is not a game. In Oyo, they made away with children. I volunteered to go, but the state government said ‘No.’

“Later, they informed me that the kidnappers said if I tried to rescue the children by force, they would kill them all,” he added.

The activist maintained that his proposed “Iru Ekun Security Network” had already received approval from the Federal Government, but alleged that the Oyo State Government restricted its operations.

“After I arranged the Iru Ekun security network, the Federal Government permitted me, but the state government said no security outfit must operate behind them,” he said.

Igboho also questioned efforts to undermine Tinubu’s government, recalling that the President supported him during his exile abroad.

“It was Tinubu who freed me when I was in exile. Why should I tackle him? And why are they trying to ruin his government?” he asked.

The controversy follows the May 15 attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where over 45 pupils were reportedly abducted by armed men.

The affected schools included Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School.

One of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was later reportedly killed by the attackers, sparking outrage and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the South-West region.

Security agencies are said to have intensified operations around forest areas bordering Oriire communities and the Old Oyo National Park in efforts to rescue the remaining victims.
