IK OSAKIODUWA EXPLAINS WHY HE DIDN’T HOST 2026 AMVCA
Popular media personality and TV host IK Osakioduwa has opened up on why he did not host the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), addressing speculations that trailed his absence.
In a recent statement, IK clarified that his non-involvement was not due to any controversy or disagreement with the organisers. Instead, he explained that the decision was based on scheduling and production choices made by the event organisers for this year’s edition.
He noted that award shows of such scale often rotate hosts or adjust formats depending on creative direction, production planning, and availability of talent. According to him, his absence should not be misinterpreted as a fallout with the AMVCA team.
The veteran presenter, who has hosted several past editions of the prestigious awards, expressed appreciation to the organisers and audience for the continued support he has received over the years.
Fans had earlier taken to social media to express surprise at his absence, with many associating his long-standing presence with the identity of the AMVCA hosting experience. His clarification has since helped calm speculation surrounding the change.
IK further emphasized that he remains open to future collaborations with the AMVCA team and other entertainment projects across Africa, adding that his focus remains on delivering quality entertainment content.
The 2026 AMVCA edition proceeded with a different hosting arrangement, reflecting the event’s evolving format and creative direction.
