Former African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, and Chief Omolubi Newuwumi, the Omatamudieyin of Warri Kingdom, have commended His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, for his dedication to sportsmanship and physical wellness.

 

As part of activities marking his 4th coronation anniversary, the Olu of Warri has organised a novelty football match to celebrate retired Nigerian football legends and encourage community fitness.

 

The Coronation Novelty Match, set for August 19 at the Olu’s Palace, promises to be a thrilling spectacle, featuring an impressive lineup of football icons alongside local and international dignitaries.

 

The Iwere Allstars, led by the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council as goalkeeper, will include Hon. Emma Nunu, Chief Omolubi Newuwumi, Chief Maku, Chief Dr. Godday Erewa, Hon. Ogbe Eke, and Hon. Onos Oborevwori, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission.

 

They will go head-to-head with the Chevron Allstars, captained by Engr. Tony Sifo, and boasting stars such as Prince Toju Emiko, Prince Godstime Emiko, Engr. Igho Ekakitie, Victor Ikpeba, Kanu Nwankwo, Mutiu Adepoju, Taribo West, Ifeanyi Udeze, Delali Tawiah, the Saurdana of Katsina, Julius Aghahowa, Garba Lawal, Peterside Idah, and other renowned ex-footballers.

 

The match is expected to draw a large crowd of football lovers and community members, celebrating both the Olu’s reign and the unifying power of sports.
