ILEBAYE’S FATHER SPEAKS ON RIFT WITH BBNAIJA STAR AFTER VIRAL FAMILY DRAMA
Hon. Godson Odiniya, father of Big Brother Naija Season 8 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has finally spoken out over the reported disagreement between him and his daughter following a viral family incident that sparked reactions online.
In an audio recording shared on social media by journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme, Odiniya explained that the tension between them began after he allegedly approached the reality TV star for financial assistance ahead of a planned medical trip to Dubai.
According to him, he needed temporary support because funds he was expecting had not yet arrived, but Ilebaye allegedly turned down the request.
“The most recent one that I was not happy about was when I was supposed to go for a medical check-up in Dubai,” he said.
“I told my daughter, ‘I’m lacking resources, please borrow me a certain amount of money, the money I’m expecting hasn’t come.’ My daughter told me she doesn’t have money.”
Odiniya further stated that what hurt him more was seeing videos of Ilebaye spraying bundles of cash at a colleague’s wedding shortly before declining his request.
“A week before that, come and see how my daughter was spraying bundles of money at the wedding of one of her colleagues, whom they call Cross,” he added.
While expressing disappointment, he maintained that he had no issue with his daughter supporting friends and colleagues but questioned why she could not extend the same gesture to him.
“That is not the problem. I will be happy if my daughter supports her colleagues, but what about your father? If you help your father, is anything wrong?” he asked.
The revelation comes amid growing public attention surrounding the Odiniya family after reports emerged that the BBNaija star’s father was arrested over an alleged assault incident at their residence in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.
The controversy gained traction online after a disturbing video surfaced showing Ilebaye visibly emotional, crying for help and appearing with facial swelling during the altercation.
The incident has since sparked intense reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating family expectations, financial responsibility, and the pressures that often come with fame and success.
