Rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma has thrown down the gauntlet following a stunning knockout victory over seasoned fighter Dillian Whyte, further solidifying his position as one of the most exciting prospects in boxing.

In what was considered the toughest challenge of his professional career so far, the 20-year-old dispatched Whyte in under two minutes at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on Saturday. Itauma showcased sharp technique and power, culminating in a fierce right hand that floored the 37-year-old veteran. Although Whyte managed to get back on his feet, the referee called a halt to the bout at 119 seconds.

The win extended Itauma’s unblemished professional record to 13 victories, 11 of which have come by knockout.

Speaking after the fight, the British-Nigerian told DAZN, “What is next? I will fight anyone they put in front of me. People are talking about [undisputed champion Oleksandr] Usyk. My team wants me to get more rounds in. Any of those options can happen.”

Itauma has only gone past the second round twice and boasts eight first-round stoppages since bursting onto the professional scene in 2023, when he won his debut in just 23 seconds.

Though Usyk remains the top name in the division, Itauma seems content with continuing to build momentum before targeting the division's elite.

“I gave the fans a show tonight, so now it’s all about who’s next,” Itauma added.

Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions praised Itauma’s composure and talent, saying on BBC Radio 5 Live, “The way he fought—his control and maturity—he’s already better than some fighters at their peak. He took apart someone who’s competed at the highest levels.”

Despite coming into the fight in his best shape in years—recording his lightest weight in a decade—Whyte struggled to cope with Itauma’s relentless assault, casting doubt over his future in the sport.

Although Itauma’s hopes of becoming the youngest heavyweight champion ever were dashed earlier in the year, his latest performance puts him firmly in contention for a title shot within the next year.

With Tyson Fury stepping away from the ring, Anthony Joshua approaching the end of his career, and Daniel Dubois having recently lost his IBF title to Usyk, Itauma is quickly emerging as Britain’s next heavyweight sensation.

The Slovakia-born fighter has been guided carefully throughout his early career, and while there is no rush to thrust him into a title fight, he made clear that he’s eager for bigger tests.

“I’m not calling out Usyk because I don’t think I’ve earned that yet,” Itauma explained. “But I do want to fight those who deserve that level—maybe Agit Kabayel, maybe Joseph Parker. Names like that.”

Parker, known for his fearless approach—most recently stepping in against the dangerous Martin Bakole on just two days’ notice and securing a remarkable win—responded positively to Itauma’s rise.

“He’s a great talent,” Parker said on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra. “He showed real power, aggression, and smart shot selection. To handle that kind of pressure at 20 years old is impressive. I’d love to share the ring with him someday—and I think we will.”
