Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has expressed complete satisfaction with his decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a move made in the best interest of the people.

Speaking to reporters after revalidating his APC membership in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Governor Eno said:

“I am fully satisfied with the choice I have made.”

On August 4, he launched a statewide APC membership registration exercise, which will run for a month across all wards in Akwa Ibom. The aim, according to the governor, is to identify genuine party members, curb impersonation, and strengthen the party’s internal structure.

Governor Eno emphasized that the move will boost grassroots mobilisation and position the APC for stronger political influence in the state.

As he welcomed new members to the party, he urged them to remain focused and ignore distractions, stressing the importance of unity within the APC.

He also called on party members to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying collective effort is vital to moving the party—and the nation—forward.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
