“I’M NOT A MEAN PERSON — PEOPLE JUST MISJUDGE ME,” SAYS EX-BBN STAR MIDE
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ayomide Iwasokun, popularly known as Mide, has opened up about how she handles public perception and the attention that comes with fame.
In a recent interview, the reality star admitted that while she tries not to dwell on people’s opinions, it’s impossible to completely ignore them. She said, “Everyone thinks about what others say about them to some extent, but it depends on how much you allow it to affect you. People’s opinions do get to me sometimes, but at the end of the day, I know myself and what’s true. You can have your opinion, I might listen, but honestly, I don’t care that much.”
Addressing why some fans see her as being mean, Mide explained that it mostly has to do with her facial expressions rather than her true nature.
She said, “I think it started when we first got into the house. I was exhausted from all the activities, and on top of that, I have a resting face that makes me look unfriendly. But I promise, I don’t have a mean bone in my body. I only react when I’m angry, and that’s it.”
When asked about her friendship with fellow housemate Bright Morgan and the controversy surrounding online claims made by his ex-partner about his sexuality, Mide said she preferred to stay out of such matters.
“I’m trying to stay away from negativity. I really don’t care about all that,” she said.
Speaking about her experience on the show, Mide added, “I didn’t go in with too many expectations because I didn’t want to limit myself. But coming out to see all the love and support has been amazing. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m happy with how everything turned out.”
