“I’M NOT YOUR AUNTY!” – YENI KUTI AND PDP’S SOWUNMI CLASH ON AIR AFTER TINUBU VISIT
Renowned media personality Yeni Kuti and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Sowunmi engaged in a heated exchange during a live broadcast, following Sowunmi’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu.
Sowunmi paid a visit to the president at his Lagos residence over the weekend. The former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Sowunmi has long been a vocal critic of Tinubu—a stance that made the visit particularly controversial and drew mixed reactions online.
During an appearance on TVC’s Your View on Tuesday, Sowunmi faced questions from the hosts regarding the perceived shift in his political stance. Yeni Kuti, one of the presenters, asked pointedly:
“You’ve often criticized the president, but it seems your tone has changed since the visit. So, when are you making your move—when are you leaving the PDP for the APC?”
Sowunmi, clearly displeased, responded:
“Although I can’t see who is asking that, I didn’t come on your show to be toyed with. Don’t be cheeky.”
Kuti shot back:
“I’m not being cheeky. I’m probably older than you.”
Realizing the tension, Sowunmi quickly backtracked, saying:
“Oh sister! My aunty! I take that back. Please don’t be offended.”
Kuti, however, firmly replied:
“I’m not your aunty.”
The clip has since gone viral on social media.
