IMO STATE RECEIVES NEW ELECTRICITY INFRASTRUCTURE EQUIPMENT
Another consignment of electricity equipment has arrived in Owerri, marking a significant step in the Imo State Government’s drive to provide round-the-clock power to the state capital and neighboring communities.
The development was confirmed on Friday by Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Senior Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Electronic and Creative Media.
“Owerri received another batch of electricity equipment today, advancing our steady progress toward 24-hour power supply in Imo State,” Nwaogwugwu said.
The equipment, delivered under the state’s ongoing power reform programme, is aimed at strengthening electricity distribution, reducing outages, and ensuring uninterrupted power across key areas of Owerri and surrounding communities. Officials at the delivery site confirmed that installation will begin immediately, in line with the project schedule.
Nwaogwugwu highlighted that the development reflects Governor Hope Uzodimma’s commitment to improving power infrastructure, emphasizing that “the promise of 24-hour electricity is not a slogan but a carefully sequenced programme already in motion.”
He added that the Uzodimma administration has consistently invested in modern power infrastructure, focusing on network expansion, system reliability, and sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes.
Residents and business owners in Owerri have already started experiencing improved electricity supply, with longer hours of service and fewer disruptions. The latest delivery is expected to consolidate these gains, creating a more stable environment for commerce, healthcare, education, and daily life.
“As installations continue across the state, Imo is steadily positioning itself as a model for subnational power reform, driven by infrastructure-focused strategies that enhance economic growth and public confidence,” the statement said.
“The road to uninterrupted electricity is being built in full view, and each new delivery brings the state closer to that goal.”
