INEC CONFIRMS USE OF BVAS FOR VOTER ACCREDITATION IN 2026 EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued an official notice for the upcoming Ekiti State Governorship Election, scheduled to take place on June 20, 2026. The Commission confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for accrediting voters during the election.
While INEC had earlier announced the election dates for both Ekiti and Osun states, the latest notice—released on Wednesday—is in accordance with Section 28(1) & (2) of the amended Electoral Act 2022.
According to the notice, voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and take place across 2,445 polling units within all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ekiti State.
INEC also reiterated that only registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be permitted to vote.
“Voters shall cast their ballots only at the polling units where they are registered. The BVAS will be deployed for voter accreditation,” the Commission emphasized, stressing its “No PVC, No Voting” policy.
