The Independent National Electoral Commission has released the final list of 122 candidates contesting the National Assembly elections in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The list contains candidates fielded by various political parties for the three senatorial districts and the House of Representatives seats across the state.

The commission disclosed the development through the Head of Voter Education and Publicity Department in Ondo State, Ogunseye Olayinka, in a statement issued on Sunday in Akure on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke. According to the statement, the publication was carried out in line with INEC’s approved timetable and schedule of activities for the elections.

The final list comprises 31 candidates for the senatorial districts and 91 candidates for the House of Representatives seats in Ondo State. INEC also published the names of 18 presidential candidates and their political parties as part of preparations for the January 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Olayinka said September 12 was the deadline set by the commission for the publication of the final list of presidential and National Assembly candidates. He explained that the latest publication was made pursuant to Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, describing the development as another major step in the commission’s preparations for the elections.

The commission urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to visit INEC offices across Ondo State, including the state and local government offices, to inspect the published list. INEC also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting elections that are free, fair, transparent, credible and inclusive, stressing that winners would be determined by votes lawfully cast and counted in accordance with the law.
