The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an 87% level of preparedness ahead of the upcoming Enugu North senatorial district by-election in Enugu.

According to the commission, logistical arrangements, sensitive and non-sensitive materials, and deployment plans are at an advanced stage as preparations intensify for the poll.

INEC officials said the remaining aspects of readiness, including final security coordination and personnel deployment, are being concluded in collaboration with relevant agencies.

The commission assured stakeholders that the by-election will be conducted in a transparent, credible, and peaceful manner, in line with electoral guidelines in Nigeria.

Political parties participating in the election have also been urged to comply with electoral laws and ensure peaceful conduct throughout the process.

INEC noted that voter education and sensitisation efforts have been intensified to encourage higher turnout and reduce invalid voting during the exercise.

The by-election is expected to serve as another test of the commission’s preparedness ahead of future electoral cycles.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
