INEC SEEKS STAKEHOLDER SYNERGY AHEAD OF EKITI GOVERNORSHIP POLL
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, aimed at ensuring a free, fair, and credible poll.
Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, made the call during an Election Risk Management sensitisation workshop held in Ado Ekiti.
He said the success of the election would depend on the cooperation and commitment of all stakeholders, including security agencies, civil society groups, and the media.
Omoseyindemi urged political actors to conduct campaigns in line with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines, stressing the need for issue-based and peaceful engagement.
He explained that the Election Risk Management framework is designed to identify and address potential threats such as vote-buying, misinformation, violence, logistical delays, and voter apathy.
The REC noted that such risks can be mitigated through proactive collaboration and strict compliance with electoral rules by all participants.
Stakeholders at the workshop included security agencies, civil society organisations, and electoral officials, all of whom were encouraged to work together to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
