INTER MIAMI FACES FIRST DEFEAT OF 2025 MLS SEASON IN LOSS TO FC DALLAS
FC Dallas came from behind to win 4-3, as Inter Miami rested several key players ahead of their CONCACAF Champions Cup match.
Inter Miami suffered their first loss of the 2025 MLS season on Sunday, falling 4-3 to FC Dallas. Despite holding a 3-1 lead, Miami was unable to protect their advantage, conceding three goals in the second half.
Manager Javier Mascherano made the decision to rest Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez for the match, prioritizing their upcoming CONCACAF Champions Cup fixture. The strategy, however, did not yield the desired results as Miami's lead slipped away.
This defeat dropped Inter Miami to fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 18 points. After the match, Mascherano took responsibility for the loss, acknowledging that his team had played well for the first 65 minutes but recognizing his error in judgment during the game.
“We played a very good game for 65 minutes and managed to come back, but unfortunately, I made a mistake in reading the match, and in the end, I couldn’t help the players,” Mascherano explained. “I made some decisions that weren’t right.”
With this setback behind them, Miami will now focus on their upcoming Champions Cup tie, hoping to recover quickly from their unexpected defeat.
