INTER RALLY LATE TO DOWN FIORENTINA AND REGAIN SERIE A LEAD
Inter Milan scored twice in stoppage time to overturn a deficit and beat Fiorentina 2–1 at San Siro on Sunday.
Marcus Thuram equalised in the 91st minute before Piotr Zielinski converted a penalty seven minutes later, completing a dramatic comeback.
The victory lifted Inter back to the top of Serie A, level with Lazio on 22 points.
Fiorentina had looked set for an upset after Alex Jimenez put them ahead with a powerful long-range strike in the 65th minute.
Goalkeeper David de Gea repeatedly frustrated Inter, denying efforts from Pio Esposito and Thuram as the hosts searched for a breakthrough.
Carlos Augusto also struck the crossbar before Inter finally found a way through in added time.
Thuram placed his equaliser into the bottom corner, then won the decisive penalty after being brought down by Victor Valdepenas.
Zielinski stepped up to secure all three points and leave Fiorentina without a win in four league matches.
The visitors remained in 18th place after coming within minutes of a valuable victory.
