IRAN THREATENS TO BLOCK RED SEA SHIPPING OVER US NAVAL BLOCKADE

Iran has warned that it may block commercial shipping routes across the Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, and the Persian Gulf if the United States continues its naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The warning was issued on Wednesday by Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran’s military central command centre, in a statement carried by Iranian state television.

He said Iran would take action if the US continues to “create insecurity” for Iranian commercial vessels and oil tankers, describing such actions as a violation that could escalate tensions further.

According to him, Iran’s armed forces “will not allow any exports or imports to continue” through key global maritime corridors if the blockade persists.

The development comes after the United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports earlier in the week following failed talks aimed at de-escalating tensions.

Despite the blockade, maritime tracking reports indicate that some Iranian commercial vessels have continued to sail from southern ports, suggesting ongoing movement in affected waters.

Iranian officials insist they will respond decisively to protect national sovereignty and maintain control over their strategic shipping routes.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
