Dickson Iroegbu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Obidient Movement, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of acting as if he is above President Bola Tinubu.

Iroegbu made the remarks on Friday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.

He alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) provided Wike with a platform to weaken the PDP and is now attempting to undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

“The truth of the matter is that the APC, through the president’s support, gave Wike a platform which he has used to almost scuttle democracy in Nigeria. They positioned him to weaken, undermine, and possibly destroy the PDP. Having almost succeeded, he now believes he is bigger than the President,” Iroegbu said.

He added, “If you listened to the meetings he held with some of his supporters in Rivers State, you would hear him claim that nobody—without exception—can decide what happens in the state. Wike has become larger than life, as created by Tinubu’s administration, and we hope this conflict continues so that Nigerians can reclaim their country.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
