The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the sale of Direct Entry application forms for the 2026/2027 academic session to May 8, 2026.

The board said the extension from the earlier April 25 deadline is aimed at giving all eligible candidates enough time to complete their registration and participate in the admission process into tertiary institutions.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the decision forms part of efforts to ensure that no prospective Direct Entry candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country.

The statement said the sale of Direct Entry application documents has now been extended to May 8 from the previous closing date.

JAMB also announced the approval of five additional registration centres across the country to ease pressure in high-demand locations and improve access for applicants.

The new centres are the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre 1, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos State.

The board noted that the Lagos centre will commence operations on April 30, 2026.

It added that all its offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain open for the ongoing Direct Entry registration exercise.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
