The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members for extorting unsuspecting candidates.

JAMB disclosed this in its release bulletin on Monday, saying the action was part of its efforts to sanitise the admission and examination processes.

The Board said the decision showed that its fight against fraud was not limited to individuals outside the organisation, as internal misconduct would also attract sanctions.

JAMB warned its staff against engaging in conduct capable of undermining the integrity of the Board or exploiting candidates and members of the public.

The Board said its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct applied to all employees, regardless of their positions or status.

It added that the same measures used against external fraudsters would be applied to staff members found abusing their positions or the trust of candidates.

JAMB said it would not protect employees who crossed the line, stressing that those found compromising its operations would face disciplinary action in accordance with established rules.

The Board also urged its workforce to maintain professional and accountable conduct, warning that violations would attract severe consequences.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and professional workforce, saying the fight against fraud must also begin from within the organisation.
