The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that results for candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released before midnight today (Friday).

This was disclosed in an official statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Public Communication Adviser.

According to the statement, candidates who wrote the exam on Thursday, April 16, 2026, will be able to check their results once processing is completed later in the day.

“All candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday will have their results released before midnight,” the board confirmed.

JAMB also noted that an official announcement will be made across its platforms as soon as the results go live, urging candidates to stay updated through its verified communication channels.

The 2026 UTME began nationwide on Thursday, with over 2.2 million candidates expected to participate in the examination, which runs from April 16 to April 22 across accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

As one of Nigeria’s largest standardized examinations, the UTME is conducted in multiple sessions daily to reduce congestion and ensure smooth verification processes at exam centres.

Candidates are advised to remain patient and regularly check for updates, as the release process is completed in phases.

For many students across the country, today marks a crucial moment as they eagerly await results that will determine their next academic step.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
