JAMIE CARRAGHER APOLOGISES TO EBERECHI EZE AFTER HAT-TRICK HEROICS FOR ARSENAL

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has publicly admitted that he underestimated Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze, following the England international’s sensational hat-trick in Sunday’s 4-1 North London derby win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Eze, who was initially on his way to Tottenham last summer before Arsenal hijacked the deal, has quickly become a key figure at the Emirates Stadium, especially with Martin Ødegaard sidelined through injury.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, said he had previously viewed Eze as a supporting player rather than a game-changer. But Sunday’s performance has completely changed his perspective.

“When Eze came in, I thought, okay, maybe it’s not a game changer,” Carragher admitted.

“There were still a few great goals in there, and then he goes and scores a hat-trick. So, apologies. I certainly undervalued the importance of that signing because he looks like he could make the real difference for Arsenal this season and help them go on to win the title. And apart from the skill, he’s scoring the goals and making an overall contribution to the game.”

Eze’s performances are raising hopes among Arsenal fans that he could play a decisive role in the club’s bid for their first Premier League title in 22 years.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
