The Jigawa State Executive Council, led by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, has approved a supplementary budget of N85 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmad, during a press briefing on the outcome of Tuesday’s council meeting.

According to him, the supplementary budget covers both the state government and the 27 local government councils. He explained that the additional appropriation became necessary due to increased revenue and the need to address emerging financial demands while strengthening key sectors for sustainable growth.

Out of the total amount, N58 billion is allocated to the state, while N17 billion is designated for the 27 local government councils. The funds will cater for both recurrent and capital expenditures.

Hon. Sagir further noted that the supplementary budget is expected to boost ongoing projects and programs across vital areas including education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and other development initiatives.

He added that the proposal will be presented to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for legislative scrutiny and approval in line with constitutional provisions and budgetary processes.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
