The Jigawa State Police Command says it continues to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property in the state, with two recent arrests made in Taura and Maigatari Local Government Areas.

On 29/11/2025 at around 12:30 pm, officers from the Taura Division arrested 27-year-old Adamu Yahaya of Kwalam town, Taura LGA, for allegedly vandalizing public electricity infrastructure.

Police reported that the suspect was found in possession of three sacks containing electric wires, allegedly removed from government power facilities.

A statement signed by SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that preliminary investigations indicate Yahaya conspired with accomplices to tamper with government property, disrupting electricity supply in the community.

The recovered items have been secured, and investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

Earlier the same day, at approximately 10:30 am, officers from the Maigatari Division arrested a suspected cattle rustler in Matoya village.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Muhammad Abdullahi from Maidaga village, Dungas District, Niger Republic, was allegedly intercepted while moving eight cows believed to have been stolen.

The livestock has been recovered and is in police custody until verified owners come forward. The suspect is still being questioned, and efforts to apprehend his accomplice continue.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their dedication and thanked residents for their cooperation. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime and urged the public to continue providing timely and useful information to the police.

The statement assures citizens that the Jigawa State Police Command remains committed to maintaining peace and security across the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
