Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has met with the President of Sierra Leone, where discussions focused on regional stability and ongoing peace efforts within West Africa.

Jonathan, who serves as a key mediator in regional diplomatic engagements, reiterated his commitment to supporting peacebuilding initiatives under the framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

During the meeting, both leaders reportedly discussed security challenges affecting parts of the region, as well as the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation among member states.

Jonathan emphasized the need for collaborative approaches to conflict resolution, democratic stability, and good governance across West Africa.

The engagement forms part of broader ECOWAS-backed diplomatic missions involving former African leaders who help mediate political tensions and support electoral peace processes.

Officials say such engagements remain critical in addressing instability and promoting peaceful transitions across the sub-region.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitments to strengthen regional partnerships and enhance collective security efforts.
