JOSHUA VS FURY COULD FINALLY HAPPEN IN OCTOBER — GEORGE GROVES PREDICTS

Boxing fans may finally get to witness the long-awaited showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury this October, according to former world champion George Groves.

While Fury remains officially “retired” after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, Groves believes it’s only a matter of time before the Gypsy King steps back into the ring — and Joshua is the man waiting for him.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Groves said both fighters are likely holding out for the perfect deal.

“There must be a number that makes it worthwhile for both guys,” Groves explained. “Maybe they’re just waiting for that number. You don’t need to announce the fight now if it’s not happening until October.”

Groves is confident the fight is going to happen — and soon.

“Joshua’s had elbow surgery, Fury’s already out running. I’m pretty sure they’ll box in September or October and have a rematch next year.”

Joshua, 35, hasn’t fought since suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September. He recently underwent surgery and is reportedly recovering well. Meanwhile, 36-year-old Fury declared retirement for the fourth time after losing to Usyk — but has been spotted training again, fueling speculation about a return.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has hinted at a comeback bout before the end of the year, with a two-fight deal against Fury being the ultimate goal for 2026.

However, Groves suggests both fighters should skip any tune-up matches and go straight into the mega-fight fans have waited years for.

“If I was either guy, I’d just fight each other and that’s it,” he said. “No more risks. Stuff can go wrong in training or even on fight night.”

“Both have lost fights. Fury hasn’t looked his best in a while. Just get in the ring and fight each other.”

The much-hyped “Battle of Britain” has been on the cards for years, and fans have grown weary of delays, negotiations, and retirements. Now, with time ticking on both careers, Groves’ advice rings clear: no more detours — just make the fight happen.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
