The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has called off its ongoing strike, directing members to return to work on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.

According to a communique signed by the National Vice President of JUSUN and ten other union leaders, the decision followed extensive discussions and a series of meetings held on Tuesday with representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and other key stakeholders.

The parties agreed that JUSUN would seek the intervention of the CJN, the Minister of Labour and Employment Muhammad Dingyadi, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other relevant bodies.

As part of the agreement, suspending the strike will allow the union to negotiate with the Federal Government for the release of funds to the judiciary within one month. The communique further stated that “once funds are released to the Judiciary, JUSUN’s demands—including implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage and arrears, a 25/35% salary increase, and five months’ wage award with arrears—will be promptly addressed.”

The communique was signed by the National Vice President, National Assistant Financial Secretary, and chairpersons of JUSUN chapters across various judicial bodies including the Federal Judicial Service Commission, Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, National Judicial Institute, and courts in the Federal Capital Territory.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
