JULIA NNEJI FILES A PETITION TO THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE, REQUESTING A RETRACTION AND PUBLIC APOLOGY FOR BEING DECLARED WANTED.
Ihuoma Julia Nneji, daughter of ABC Transport founder Frank Nneji, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over a “Wanted Person” notice issued against her by the Nigerian Police Force through its National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.
Through her legal representatives, Pillar-Rest Attorneys, Nneji is demanding that the NPF retract the notice and issue a formal written apology within 48 hours. Her lawyers have also called for the immediate removal of the Special Police Gazette Bulletin that declared her wanted.
The petition, dated April 16, 2025, and signed by Oyaje James Oyigoga Esq., was titled “Report of Unlawful Public Declaration of Ihuoma Julia Nneji ‘Wanted’ by the Nigerian Police Force National Cybercrime Centre Unit in Breach of Her Fundamental Rights.” It was addressed to the IGP through the Director of the NPF-NCCC.
The legal team argues that the public declaration violates Nneji’s fundamental rights as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution. They also insist that a retraction be sent to all media platforms and outlets where the initial notice was shared.
Nneji was declared wanted by the NPF-NCCC in a bulletin released late Tuesday. The notice, which appeared on the Force’s official Facebook page, listed alleged offenses including criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking.
It also directed law enforcement to arrest her and hand her over to the nearest police station or the NPF-NCCC headquarters in Abuja.
