KANO COURT JAILS POPULAR TIKTOKER FOR ONE YEAR OVER OFFENSIVE VIDEO
A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has sentenced popular TikTok creator, Abubakar Usman Kilina, to one year in prison over a video deemed offensive.
The verdict was delivered by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan of Court No. 21, who also offered Kilina the option of paying a ₦100,000 fine, along with a ₦30,000 compensation fee to the Kano State Film Censorship Board for what was described as “wasting the agency’s time.”
According to a report by Freedom Radio, Kilina was found guilty of promoting indecent behavior, featuring cross-dressers, and using inappropriate language in one of his TikTok videos.
The case was brought against him by the Kano State Film Censorship Board.
While delivering the judgment, Magistrate Hadiza cautioned Kilina to refrain from producing content that violates public morals, warning that any repeat offense would result in a full sentence without the option of a fine.
