KANO GOV THREATENS TO SACK APPOINTEES SELLING EMPOWERMENT ITEMS
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has warned political appointees and party officials against selling or diverting items distributed through empowerment programmes.
Yusuf said anyone found responsible would lose their position, stressing that the items were meant to improve beneficiaries’ welfare and support economic independence.
The governor, represented by APC state chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa, issued the warning on Monday at an empowerment programme organised by Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South Senatorial District.
At the event, 16 vehicles were presented to APC local government chairmen, while 400 motorcycles went to party executives across the district.
Another 200 beneficiaries each received two standard sewing machines and one industrial sewing machine to strengthen their tailoring businesses and help them train or employ others.
Yusuf urged recipients to use the items for their intended purposes rather than sell them for immediate financial gain.
He also expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections and encouraged party members to sustain their mobilisation efforts.
Speaking at the programme, Sumaila said the initiative was part of his commitment to turning constituents’ support into practical benefits, stronger businesses and sustainable livelihoods.
