KANO LAWMAKER DUMPS NDC, RETURNS TO APC AFTER MEETING BARAU
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has welcomed the member representing Makoda State Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, back into the All Progressives Congress.
The development marks another political shift in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tomas, who recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, announced his return to the APC during a visit to Barau’s residence in Abuja on Monday.
He was accompanied by the Executive Chairmen of Makoda and Dambatta Local Government Areas, Alhaji Isa Currency and Alhaji Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.
In a statement personally signed on Monday, Barau described Tomas’ return as timely and significant, saying it reflected a commitment to progress and good governance.
The Deputy Senate President stated that the lawmaker’s decision to return to the APC would strengthen the party’s position in Kano North Senatorial District and across Kano State.
According to Barau, Tomas demonstrated foresight by realigning with the ruling party.
He also assured the returning lawmaker of equal opportunities within the APC and urged party members to remain united as political activities intensify ahead of future elections.
Barau added that party members would continue to work together for the growth and success of the APC, Kano North Senatorial District, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole.
