Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have rescued a 70-year-old shepherd and two children during a security operation in Kano.

Security sources said the victims were abducted by armed men suspected to be bandits before they were tracked and rescued by operatives following intelligence-led operations.

The NSCDC confirmed that the rescue mission was carried out without casualties, adding that the victims have since been reunited with their families.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects responsible for the abduction, as security agencies intensify operations across affected communities.

Officials described the rescue as part of broader efforts to curb banditry and protect rural populations in vulnerable areas.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies to aid ongoing operations in Nigeria.

The case remains under investigation as security forces continue their search for the fleeing suspects.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
