The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two notorious thugs, Mohammed Isma’il, popularly known as ‘Linga’, and his accomplice, Sani Abdulsalam, also called ‘Guchi’, after videos surfaced online showing them wielding dangerous weapons.

Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the duo was picked up during an intelligence-led operation in Dala Quarters, where they were allegedly mobilizing youths and inciting violence.

“During the arrest, a sword and two clubs were recovered from the suspects. They had been posting videos of themselves on TikTok and Facebook, brandishing weapons and threatening the peace of the community,” Kiyawa said.

The statement further noted that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered the operation, warned that the command would not tolerate the use of social media to encourage violence.

“Anyone found sharing videos of themselves with weapons or engaging in acts of thuggery will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law,” he cautioned.

The police also appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children against criminal behavior and commended residents for providing information that facilitated the arrest.

“We value the cooperation of the public in supplying credible intelligence. Citizens are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious activities through our emergency lines,” the statement added.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
