The Kano State Police Command has intervened to rescue a man from an angry mob after he was accused of desecrating the Qur’an at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

Sources report that the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel in Badawa Quarters.

According to the sources, the police received a distress call that three men—Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters—had visited the hotel to smoke shisha.

One of the sources stated that Musa Tasiu allegedly entered the hotel mosque, broke the glass door, picked up a copy of the Holy Qur’an, and tore it.

“Following the incident, people within the premises gathered in large numbers, and the suspect was on the verge of being lynched,” the source said.

A patrol team from the division quickly responded, rescued the suspect, and restored calm in the area.

The source added that the situation has since been contained, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
