The state government of Kano has raised concerns over the welfare of intending pilgrims ahead of this year’s Hajj operations, calling for better arrangements and improved coordination.

Officials said the concerns border on logistics, accommodation, feeding, and medical support for pilgrims during the exercise in Saudi Arabia.

The issues were discussed during a meeting with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), where stakeholders reviewed preparations for the pilgrimage.

In response, NAHCON assured that measures are being put in place to improve service delivery and address past challenges experienced by pilgrims.

The commission said it is working with state pilgrims’ welfare boards to ensure smoother coordination, better facilities, and enhanced support systems throughout the Hajj period.

Authorities also emphasized the importance of early planning, proper documentation, and efficient communication to avoid delays and discomfort for pilgrims.

Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration to ensure a more organised and comfortable Hajj exercise for Nigerian participants.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
