"KANO TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER RESIGNS AMID BAIL CONTROVERSY INVOLVING SUSPECTED DRUG BARON"
Kano Commissioner for Transportation Resigns Over Drug Suspect Bail Saga
Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, has officially resigned from his position following controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Danwawu.
Namadi’s resignation comes just hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the findings of an investigative panel probing the matter. In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, Namadi said he was stepping down in the interest of public trust and transparency.
“As a member of an administration that has consistently championed the fight against illicit drugs, it behoves me to take this step—painful as it may be,” Namadi said.
He maintained his innocence, but noted that the sensitive nature of the case and his desire to protect the image of the administration led him to resign voluntarily.
Namadi also thanked Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the people of Kano State and reiterated his commitment to good governance and responsible leadership.
Reacting to the resignation, Governor Yusuf accepted the decision and reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related offenses. He also emphasized the importance of discipline among political appointees and urged public officials to seek proper approval before getting involved in matters of public interest.
“This administration stands firmly for justice and accountability. We expect all political office holders to act responsibly and within the boundaries of their roles,” Yusuf said.
