Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has raised concerns over the growing sophistication of cyber threats during its presentation at the AI Everything Kenya x GITEX technology event.

The company said cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and advanced, driven in part by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence across industries.

Speaking at the event, Kaspersky representatives highlighted risks such as data breaches, ransomware attacks, and AI-enabled phishing schemes, which they say are increasingly targeting businesses and government systems.

The firm stressed the need for stronger cybersecurity awareness, improved digital hygiene, and investment in advanced security infrastructure across African markets.

Industry discussions at the event also focused on how AI is reshaping both cyber defence and cybercrime, with attackers leveraging new tools to bypass traditional security systems.

Experts at the conference noted that emerging digital ecosystems in Africa require proactive security strategies to protect sensitive data and critical infrastructure.

Kaspersky added that collaboration between governments, private sector players, and cybersecurity firms will be key to addressing the evolving threat landscape.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
