KATSINA POLICE ARREST 26 SUSPECTS IN CRACKDOWN ON CRIME HOTSPOTS
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected miscreants during a late-night security operation targeting criminal hideouts across Katsina metropolis.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of April 14, was led by officers from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit as part of ongoing efforts to tackle rising criminal activities in the area.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, the raid focused on known black spots where gangs and other criminal elements operate.
“The operation resulted in the arrest of twenty-six suspects involved in various crimes, including gang activities, unlawful associations, and public disturbance,” the statement noted.
During the raid, security operatives recovered several items believed to be linked to criminal activity. These include live ammunition, a sword, cutlasses, a knife, sticks, a saw, six suspected stolen mobile phones, and substances suspected to be illegal drugs, along with 500 Exol tablets and a pair of military camouflage clothing.
All suspects have since been charged to court following the completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security in the state.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to assist law enforcement agencies.
The latest raid highlights the police’s intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace in Katsina, as authorities continue to clamp down on crime across the state.
