In a continent where health insurance penetration remains below 3%, Kayode Odeyinde is rewriting the rules. As Co-founder and CEO of NucleusIS Africa, Kayode has built the backbone of Africa’s health finance infrastructure—reaching hundreds of thousands of lives across Nigeria and Ghana.

From CBN to Disruptive Innovation

Kayode began his journey at the Central Bank of Nigeria, where he led compliance for over 900 financial institutions. That experience gave him the systemic and regulatory insight to reimagine complex sectors—like healthcare.

“The CBN gave me a front-row seat to understand how large-scale systems work—even in volatile environments,” he said.

NucleusIS: Built for Africa

Launched in 2019, NucleusIS Africa provides tech-powered healthcare financing in the continent’s toughest terrains. Today, it manages 700,000+ insured lives, supports 12 HMOs, and powers 2,000+ enrollment/payment points—many in areas where even electricity is unstable.

Using API-driven mobile money, AI-based claims, and biometric systems, Kayode’s platform connects the underserved to real-time health insurance.

Global Recognition

Backed by a $175,000 Swiss Re Foundation grant and selected for the UNDP’s Timbuktoo Health Accelerator, NucleusIS is ranked among Africa’s top 2.4% of health tech innovators.

“We’re not here for surface problems. We’re rebuilding systems where they never existed,” Kayode noted.

Insurance for the Informal Sector

His platform introduced AI-powered health credit, enabling informal workers to access care without upfront payments. By integrating telecom APIs, cloud data, and mobile money, NucleusIS delivers reliable health insurance in places where trust is low and access is scarce.

Leading with Vision

Kayode leads a 50+ team spanning engineering, marketing, and regulation. He also spearheaded a $4 million capital raise to scale operations. More than CEO, he’s the company’s brain trust—its strategic and operational heart.

“Kayode didn’t just start the company. He built its DNA,” said a board member.

A Global Model

With eyes set on expanding into rural America, Kayode believes his African model can work globally.

“Rural Nigeria and rural America face similar healthcare gaps. Our tech can bridge that divide,” he says.

Kayode Odeyinde isn’t just transforming healthcare—he’s designing a future where access is a right, not a privilege. Through bold leadership and deeply rooted innovation, he’s making health insurance work where it's needed most.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
