KEDCO CUTS POWER SUPPLY AGAIN, BLAMES FAULTS ON TRANSMISSION LINES
Residents of Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina States will have to endure even more power outages as the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has announced another drop in electricity supply to the region.
According to a statement by KEDCO’s spokesperson, Sani Bala Sani, power supply to these states has now fallen to an average of 130 megawatts (MW) — far below what is needed to serve all customers.
The company explained that this latest reduction is mainly due to a fault on the Shiroro–Kaduna transmission line, which occurred early Monday morning. This is on top of an earlier problem on the Uguaji–Makurdi–Jos lines, which had already cut supply from over 300MW down to 167MW.
KEDCO assured customers that it is working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to repair the faults and restore normal power as quickly as possible.
The company apologized to residents for the inconvenience caused by the prolonged outages and frequent load shedding, urging customers to remain patient while efforts to fix the situation continue.
