KENYA TIGHTENS SECURITY AHEAD OF MAJOR OPPOSITION GATHERING

Kenyan authorities have deployed heavy security across parts of Nairobi ahead of a planned opposition rally, with a large number of police officers positioned around the Central Business District and other key areas. The increased security presence comes as opposition supporters prepare to gather for the Linda Mwananchi demonstration, amid concerns that the political gathering could disrupt normal activities in the capital.

Police officers were seen moving through the city centre and monitoring major roads and public spaces as authorities stepped up security operations ahead of the rally. Vehicle checks and increased patrols were also reported in several locations, while some businesses in parts of Nairobi reportedly shut their doors as a precaution against possible unrest or damage to property.
