Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has claimed that the APC’s support in northern Nigeria is unsettling former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement titled “Why Atiku Abubakar Is Particularly Jittery About the Kaduna Flag-off,” Keyamo argued that the ruling party’s northern political structures could challenge Atiku’s electoral strategy.

He accused the ADC presidential candidate of directing online criticism at the APC ahead of its campaign rally in Kaduna.

Keyamo also alleged that videos showing people removing President Bola Tinubu’s campaign posters were staged to suggest declining support for the President in the North.

He rejected a purported letter claiming that ₦2.3 trillion had been allocated to the rally, describing it as false.

However, the minister did not provide evidence in the statement to support his claims about the videos or establish the origin of the letter.

On the election, Keyamo argued that Atiku was relying heavily on northern votes while facing difficulties expanding his support in the South.

He maintained that winning substantial votes in parts of the North would not necessarily deliver the presidency without broader backing across the Middle Belt and Southern states.

The minister’s remarks reflect his assessment of the contest. The report did not include a response from Atiku’s camp to the allegations.
