The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress senatorial primaries in Delta State.

In a statement shared on his X handle on Tuesday, Keyamo congratulated the party’s senatorial candidates and described their emergence as well-deserved.

“I wish to profoundly congratulate Senator Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta North), Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), and Senator Joel-Onowapo Thomas (Delta South) for their resounding victories. Their victories were fully deserved,” he said.

He said the primaries recorded strong participation from party members at the ward level, describing the exercise as one of the most credible internal elections the APC had conducted in the state.

“Yesterday’s primaries saw a large turnout of the truly organic voters and members of the APC in Delta State voting at various Ward levels in an exercise that was largely free and fair,” Keyamo said.

According to him, the process reflected improved internal democracy within the party and set a positive precedent for future primaries.

“I can state unequivocally that this is the best primaries organised by the Party in the State since its inception,” he added.

Keyamo also urged unity within the party, calling on losers to accept the outcome and support the winners ahead of future elections.

“Now is a time for healing and reconciliation. I urge all those who have lost gallantly to embrace the victors for the unity of the Party,” he said.

He further encouraged winners to be inclusive in leadership and extend cooperation to their opponents.

“I also urge the victors to be magnanimous in victory and extend hands of fellowship and brotherliness to the losers,” he added.

The minister praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as effective leadership in Delta State and commended President Bola Tinubu for promoting internal democracy within the APC.

“The greatest thanks go to the overall Leader of the Party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for promoting internal democracy and allowing a free and fair process nationwide,” he said.

Keyamo said the outcome of the primaries reflected strong grassroots participation and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic processes, adding: “VICTORY IS IN SIGHT.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
