Gunmen who abducted passengers from a Benue Links bus in Okpokwu Local Government Area have demanded a ransom of N350 million for their release.

The incident occurred on July 22 when the state-owned commercial vehicle was ambushed by suspected bandits, who forcefully took the occupants into the bush.

A relative of one of the victims, Terna Agbecha, revealed that his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, is among those being held. He said the kidnappers have reached out to the family with their demand.

“They asked for N350 million. Our elder sister already paid N500,000, but they still didn’t release her,” Agbecha said.

Families of the abducted passengers are calling on the Benue State Government and security agencies to take urgent action to secure the safe return of their loved ones.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
