A lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Mr. Anslem Ojodomo, has died after collapsing in class while delivering a lecture.

The incident, which occurred in Lokoja, was confirmed by the institution’s Rector, Prof. Salihu Avidime, in a statement describing the development as a “deep personal shock.”

Eyewitnesses said Ojodomo collapsed while addressing students and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.

His death comes barely a month after another lecturer, Dr Barnabas Akuba, passed away, raising concerns among staff and students over the recent losses within the institution.

Avidime expressed condolences to the family and the polytechnic community, describing Ojodomo as a dedicated and humble academic who was committed to excellence. He noted that the late lecturer served in the Department of Public Administration and contributed significantly as Deputy Dean of Student Services.

The rector recalled meeting Ojodomo just hours before his death, praising his commitment to scholarship and service.

Ojodomo, born October 5, 1992, joined the institution in 2021 and had recently defended his PhD proposal at Prince Abubakar Audu University. His passing has left the academic community in mourning.
